You Can Buy the Legal Platform, or You Can Buy the Address
Reliable registered agent coverage for New Jersey entities. Flat $99/year for the office address, same-day scanning of court papers, and reminders before state deadlines.
We are not a neutral party here and will not perform being one. Registered Agent NJ.org is a seller in this market, charging $99 annually to act as a New Jersey company's agent, which puts us in direct competition with the product examined below. Rocket Lawyer's rates are as published and were confirmed in July 2026.
The Platform Is the Product
Rocket Lawyer built a legal subscription, not a mailbox. Members get a contract and document library, guided drafting, and access to attorneys for questions that do not warrant an hourly engagement. That is a coherent product with a real audience, and a company that leans on all three pieces regularly is getting something for its money.
$125, Every Tier, No Teaser
Agent service runs $125 annually. The notable part is that the number does not shift between membership levels; every tier Rocket Lawyer sells carries the same rate for it. We found no first-year discount and no promotional figure underneath.
Straightforward pricing deserves credit, and this qualifies. There is nothing here to decode and nothing scheduled to jump later.
The issue is structural rather than numerical. Agent duty sits inside the wider subscription, so part of your $125 is buying templates and attorney access whether or not you open either one. If your company needs those tools, the bundle is fair. If what you need is a New Jersey address that catches a summons, you are renting a whole building to use one room in it.
None of which makes us the bottom of this market. BetterLegal advertises $90 a year, nine dollars beneath our figure, and we would rather print that than let the comparison imply something untrue.
New Jersey's Penalty Arrives Late and Lands Hard

N.J.S.A. 42:2C-26 puts an annual report on every LLC registered in this state. The charge is $75 plus a small portal surcharge, the deadline arrives when your formation anniversary month expires, and it goes in online because no paper channel remains. Miss the date and no flat penalty lands. New Jersey simply does not charge one.
That silence is the trap. Your company goes delinquent the moment the month closes, which anyone pulling the state record can see, and two consecutive unfiled years give the state grounds to revoke the charter. Recovering from a revocation costs more money than the reports you skipped, once reinstatement fees and the stretch spent outside good standing get counted, and the lenders and counterparties who check are reading that record the whole time.
The state's warnings about all of this arrive as mail at your registered office. That is the entire reason mail speed belongs in a pricing comparison. Documents we accept are scanned and posted to your account the same business day, so the days remaining before your anniversary month ends stay yours rather than someone's weekly mail run.
Rocket Lawyer to Us: What New Jersey Requires
Replacing the agent of record is a single filing. Here is the sequence.
- Sign the incoming agent first. This state will take a resident individual, or any party holding authority to transact business here, working from a staffed New Jersey street address during business hours. The step comes before the paperwork for a reason set out in step four.
- Use the LLC version of the change certificate. It carries the number L-122 and handles a registered name, a registered address, or both at once. You supply the entity name as the state has it recorded, the business ID, and where in New Jersey the replacement agent can be found.
- File it with $25. Paper goes to the Treasury's Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services under a check payable to Treasurer, State of New Jersey. The identical change is available through the state's online business amendments service if you would rather keep the whole thing electronic, and folding it into your annual report carries the same $25.
- Confirm the record, then close the Rocket Lawyer account. Rocket Lawyer holds the appointment until the state posts your replacement, so cancelling early is the only way to create a gap and filing first is the way to avoid one. When the public record names us, the handoff is finished and the subscription can go.
The Narrow Service, Priced Narrowly
We do one job. A New Jersey address that appears on your filings instead of your home address, someone present to take service of process, same-day scanning of whatever arrives, deadline reminders matched to your own report month, and a portal holding all of it. $99 a year, and $99 at renewal.
If you want the contracts and the attorney line too, buy them from someone who builds them well. Just do not pay for the platform in order to get the address.
