New Jersey Sets Your Deadline by Your Own Month
Reliable registered agent coverage for New Jersey entities. Flat $99/year for the office address, same-day scanning of court papers, and reminders before state deadlines.
Say the obvious part first. Registered Agent NJ.org publishes this page, and the $99 service it argues for is the one we sell. Every ZenBusiness figure below came off their own posted rates during a July 2026 check, unadjusted.
Where ZenBusiness Is Genuinely Strong
Their account area is the most approachable one in this category. Nothing important is buried, the filing history reads cleanly, and the design never assumes you already know the vocabulary. If a polished place to log in is worth money to you, that is a legitimate preference and ZenBusiness is the company selling it.
We will not pretend to match that. Our offer is narrower on purpose: a staffed New Jersey address, documents moved the day they land, and a number that never changes.
Two Prices, and Only One of Them Repeats
Purchased on its own, ZenBusiness agent coverage costs $99 in the opening year plus whatever the state collects, then $199 at every renewal afterward.
New Jersey requires an agent on file for as long as the company exists, so the renewal is the number describing almost your whole relationship with any vendor. Year one is a tenth of a decade. The renewal is the other nine.
Placed beside ours, the arithmetic is one line. Their $199 less our $99 leaves $100 a year, and that difference comes back every year you keep the company alive. A $25 filing buys it back permanently, starting the day the record updates.
We are not the floor, to be exact about it. BetterLegal advertises $90, which puts nine dollars between their sticker and ours. What we hold is a spot near the bottom of the range that does not move once you are in it.
New Jersey Refused to Pick a Common Deadline
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereMost states name one date and make every company file by it. New Jersey did something else. The annual report falls due as your formation anniversary month runs out, so a company organized in February is on a February 28 cycle and one organized in September is on a September 30 cycle, permanently. The day you signed never counts. The month is the whole rule.
Four consequences follow:
- The report costs $75, plus a portal surcharge of $1 on an eCheck or $3 on a card.
- It is filed online and nowhere else. New Jersey retired the paper channel completely.
- Your first one does not arrive in your formation year. It lands the year after.
- Let two of them go unfiled back to back and the state can revoke the company.
Now weigh what a compliance reminder is actually worth in this state. A vendor emailing its whole list in April is describing a deadline New Jersey never set. The reminder has to know your month. And because the state routes its report notices through your registered office, the agent's mail speed becomes part of your deadline: whatever reaches our desk is scanned into your portal that same business day, and the month on your record is the month we track.
Taking ZenBusiness Off Your New Jersey Record
One filing handles it, under N.J.S.A. 42:2C-15. Four moves:
- Appoint the replacement before anything gets filed. New Jersey accepts an individual residing in the state or a person authorized to transact business here, operating from a real New Jersey street address. A PO box may ride along in the record only when that street address is listed too.
- Complete the LLC certificate of change, Form L-122. It asks for the entity name spelled as the state records it, your business ID number, then the replacement agent's details and where in New Jersey that agent sits.
- Send it in with $25. On paper the check is written to Treasurer, State of New Jersey, and the filing goes to the Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services. The identical change also runs through the state's business amendments portal if you would rather not print anything.
- Watch the public record flip, then cancel ZenBusiness. That order, never the reverse. Their name holds the appointment until the state processes your replacement, so the two overlap by design and your company is not left uncovered for a single day.
What $99 Covers
- Our New Jersey street address on your public filings, with yours off them
- Service of process scanned on arrival, with the file waiting in your account that afternoon
- Reminders keyed to your own anniversary month instead of a calendar we invented
- Your complete document history in one place
- A renewal invoice reading $99, this year and every year after it
One Decision, Priced
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereThe $199 renewal is only worth paying if switching is harder than it sounds. New Jersey priced the difficulty at $25 and one certificate. That is the entire counterargument.
